The purpose of the qualification is to provide updating and continuing professional development (CPD) by developing knowledge relevant to job roles which involve caring for individuals with diabetes. The purpose of the qualification is to provide updating and continuing professional development (CPD) by developing knowledge relevant to job roles which involve caring for individuals with diabetes. Learners may be employed or seeking employment in the health and social care sector. The qualification develops knowledge and understanding of diabetes; prevention and early intervention type 2 diabetes; the initial care of diabetes and the treatment and management of diabetes.
There are no specific entry requirements however learners should have a minimum of level one in literacy and numeracy or equivalent. The qualification is suitable for learners of 16 years of age and above.
Learners must achieve 16 credits form 4 mandatory units
Understand diabetes
Prevention and early intervention of Type 2 diabetes
Understand the initial care of diabetes
Understand the treatment and management of diabetes
The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance. All learning outcomes which assess knowledge and understanding (usually beginning with ‘understand’ or ‘know how to’) may be assessed through, for example, internally set and marked written assignments, tasks, records of oral or written questions, workbooks, or other portfolio evidence.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive an externally accredited PDF certificate from a nationally recognised and Ofqual-regulated awarding organisation.
